Decorating your living room? Choosing curtains or blinds for your living room or bedroom? It may not as tricky as you might think. Home improvement magazines could help, especially interior decorating magazines. They often give you some good tips on getting the balance right on design and personal taste.

There is also many Internet sites that provide lots of advice and tips in interior decoration. You can find a lot of video clips in Youtube dishing out advice from decorating your living room to choosing the right colour for your curtains. All these online resources could give you some ideas on what type of curtains will suit your windows. Some websites might have tools to help you visualize and create the mood and feel of your home. Finding the right information on a good website in the net could also saves you a lot of your precious time.

When you’re ready to work on your decorating ideas, it’s always prudent to put your plan on paper. Moving around funiture without a plan is certainly not your idea of fun, isn’t it? Remember, always make a window and floor plan. Good luck!

Having a pretty window will always make your living room look more beautiful than ever. If your living room has pretty windows, you should never use blinds that will make your windows look less that perfect. If you have a theme in you living room decorations, it would be a good idea to find blinds that will go well with your theme.

Note that the color and the design of your blinds will need to complement with the other things that can be found in your living. Harmony and balance should be observed in decorating your living room. You cannot just simply put anything anywhere. Something that sticks out like a sore thumb in your living room will destroy the overall effect of the place.

A window blind is a window covering composed of long strips of fabric or rigid material. Examples include shutters, Venetian blinds, roller shades and curtain-like track blinds. In Britain awnings are also considered blinds. A blind limits observation and thus “blinds” the observer to the view. The main types are slat blinds which can be opened in two ways and solid blinds.

Slat blinds have long strips called slats. These can be rotated to open the blind while it is still covering the window. In track blinds the slats hang vertically from one end. In Venetian blinds and mini blinds the slats are suspended horizontally on cords. A slat blind can also be opened so it is no longer covering the window.

Solid blinds can only be raised or lowered and are often called shades. In some such as Holland blinds and woven-wood blinds there are small spaces between the slats. In others such as pleated shades there are no spaces because the slats are sewn inside fabric.

Window blinds reduce the heat from sunlight. Ancient Egyptian pharaohs had blinds made of reeds. The most inexpensive blinds in the 1800’s were home-made roller shades, made of cloth.

Window blinds can be manually drawn or automated through motorization, controlled from a wall switch or keypad, remote control, or a personal computer, thus eliminating the hazard of dangling cords.

One way in which energy enters and leaves your home is through your windows. By sitting close to a window, you will become part of the flow. Ideally, the front of your body should face the window, so that the incoming chi interacts with the phoenix side of your chi field. The aim is to benefit from the expansive outside the chi, making it easier to feel creative. You can adjust the way energy flows into your home by using different types of window treatment.

What to do

Experiment with sitting so that you face a window you choose has an inspiring view. Try to arrange your position so that you also face a helpful direction.

Keep the windows clean and uncluttered so that chi energy can move freely. Ideally, you will be able to choose between reducing the energy that flows through the windows when you want to settle down and relax and being able to fully open up the window to allow in as much light as possible when you want to feel more active.

use curtains in situations where you want to calm the flow of chi and create a more cosy, comforatble atmosphere. Wooden blinds make it easier for chi to flow, creating a more dynamic and stimulating atmosphere; and you can angle them to let light through, without receiving the glare of direct sunlight. Fabric roller blinds have the advantage of leaving the windows unobstructed when they are rolled up and providing a softer surface when they are pulled down.

You can match the material of your window treatment to the different chi energies present in each part of your home.

Wooden blinds (north, east, south-east and south)/

Fabric roller blinds or curtains (south, north-east, south-west, west and north-west).
